Programme Philosophy and Objectives:

The programme offers a four-year BSc Degree in Business Administration, Accounting and Finance option. It has been designed to provide extensive practical hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge of computer-based business management systems. The programme will equip the graduate with a solid grounding in modern management theory and practice. It also aims to increase self-awareness and confidence, facilitate personal growth and development. It will also improve decision-making skills, develop the analytical and creative skill necessary to manage effectively in a changing ICT global environment and enhance capacity to take on new roles and responsibilities.

The program fits into the nation’s manpower needs in that graduates’ skills may be applied in various facets and fields since accountants cut across all fields. The graduates will also be well-prepared to be self-starters, as well as entrepreneurs. The student will be a skilled financial manager and/ accountant with the ability to prepare accounting information for management use. The graduate can operate at managerial levels in organizations and be able to have good human relationships with sub-ordinates and other managers.

The program also fits into the mission objectives of the E.P. University College in that it has been established to offer quality education to the nation in a Christian environment; believing that graduates will be able to apply their knowledge for the holistic socio-economic development of the nation.

Admission Requirements

To qualify for the Programme, candidates must:

Level 100

  • possess five credit passes at ‘O’ Level including English and Mathematics in Business/Arts subjects plus two/ three passes at ‘A’ Level excluding General. Candidates with relevant GBCE and ABCE will also be considered.
  • be SSSCE/WASSCE holder with passes in six subjects; three core subjects - English, Mathematics and Social Studies/Integrated Science, plus three Elective Subjects in Business/General Arts. SSSCE: aggregate 24 or better; grade E not accepted. WASSCE: Aggregate 36 or better; grades D7 and E8 not accepted.
  • be mature candidate aged 25 years and above with at least two years relevant work experience in such areas as Banking and Non-Banking Financial Institutions, Entrepreneurship and Financial Sections of other organizations, and must have passed the E. P. University College Placement Examinations.
  • DBS (4 passes) with credit passes in English and Mathematics at SSSCE/WASSCE

Level 200

  • Five Passes in Diploma in Business Studies (DBS) Pass in Higher National Diploma (HND), Part 1/ Level 1 of ICA, ACCA, CIMA and CIB.

Level 300

  • Relevant HND holders with 2nd Class Lower and better or must have other relevant Diplomas from recognized Universities/Institutions or possess relevant Professional Certificate eg. Part II/ Level II of ICA, ACCA, CIMA or CIB.

Foreign Students
Foreign students with qualifications equivalent to those mentioned above will be considered for admission at the appropriate level.  However, applicants from Francophone and other non-English speaking countries must attach to their applications evidence of Proficiency in English. All foreign certificates shall be referred to National Accreditation Board for determination of equivalence.

Programme Philosophy and Objectives:

The BSc Business Administration, Marketing option, has been designed to provide extensive practical hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge of computer based business management systems. The programme will equip the graduate with a solid grounding in modern management theory and practice. It also seeks to increase self-awareness and confidence, facilitate personal growth and development. It will equip students with improve decision-making skills, to enable them manage effectively marketing activities in global environment and enhance capacity to take on new roles and responsibilities. The graduate will also be well prepared to be self-starters, as well as entrepreneurs.

The program is designed to equip students with marketing skills and knowledge to formulate marketing plans and strategies to move the organization in which they will find themselves forward.

This program seeks to develop problem solving capacity in the graduates which will enable them operate effectively in all organizations where marketing activities are carried out. They will have the appropriate skills to become consultants in the marketing and advertising sectors.
The programme fits into the nation's manpower needs in that the graduate's skills may be applied in industry, commerce or Information Communication Technology (ICT) application to real life situation.  The programme also provides a foundation for graduate studies in areas such as Risk Management, Marketing Management and Management Information Systems. These are some of the areas we think the nation should give priority to, to accelerate its development agenda.

The programme also fits into the mission objectives of the institution in that it has been established to educate the people in a Christian environment, we believe that after graduating, they will be able to apply their knowledge for holistic socio-economic development in this nation.  Though similar courses are offered by some of the existing universities in this country, but the content of this course is more development oriented and would therefore offer a major contribution to the educational needs of our nation.

Programme Philosophy and Objectives:

The programme offers a four-year B.Sc Business Administration Degree in Human Resource Management and Organization Development. The success or otherwise of any organization depends on the effective management of its workforce and its development. The programme is thus intended to introduce students to the importance of human resource management and organization development.

The programme seeks to train students to become effective agents of human resource management and organization development. The programme also seeks to provide them with the knowledge, skills and abilities that will enable them to meet the challenges of their organizational environment. It seeks to maintain better human relations in the organization by the development, application and evaluation of policies, procedures and programmes relating to human resources as well as planned organizational change processes and to optimize their contribution towards the realization of organizational objectives.

The programme will also equip the students with a clear understanding of the concept of organization development and organization transformation. It also seeks to offer the students the opportunity to identify the resources and organization development interventions employed in the operation of an organization. The products of this Programme would become effective managers and skilful agents of human resource management and organization development. The programme will also prepare students to pursue other labour-related programmes and grant them exemption from writing some professional examinations related to human resource management. For example, Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners of Ghana.

Students will be provided with the technical and practical base of modern human resource management and organization development models to enable them as managers to become aware of the need for personal growth and development of the workers and their organizations.

The Programme content shall include course work, field attachment, project work and various simulation experiences.

Programme Philosophy and Objectives:

Credit plays a vital role in socio –economic development of every nation. Most enterprises in Ghana are inhibited by the fact that the institutions and people in positions to offer credit facilities are reluctant to offer such facilities for fear that when granted, the recoupment of such credits will be in danger.  At the same time, the recipients of such credit facilities are incapable of managing the credits facilities properly for lack of knowledge, skills and the right attitude.

This Programme is intended to prepare Management Personnel of Organisations involved in providing Credit in the form funds, goods, services and facilities to customers and other stakeholders. The programme will assist students to identify the various categories of credits, the conditions attached to them, and the risks connected with their management and repayment. Attention will be given to core areas of study that will enable the student to be equipped to deal comprehensively with the issues of credit management. These core areas include;

  • Management ( 7 courses)
  • Accounting ( 5 courses)
  • Finance ( 5 courses)
  • Law ( 4 courses)
  • Statistics ( 4 courses)
  • Information Technology ( 4 courses)

The courses in these specialized areas will be preceded by various common courses that will lay the foundation for the programme. There are different career options open to students who enroll in the programme. These include positions for Credit Administrators or Credit Controllers, Credit Supervisors/Team Leaders, Assistant Credit Managers and Credit Managers in Banks, Credit Unions, Mortgage Companies, Finance Companies, and Savings and Loan Associations.
There is also a wide variety of job roles for graduates in Credit Management and Finance. These include:

  • Credit Risk Analyst,
  • Credit Underwriter,
  • Export Credit Controller,
  • Debt Recovery Manager,
  • Litigation Specialist,
  • Accounts Receivable Manager,
  • Financial Statement Analyst,

The programme will also prepare students to pursue other Credit Management and Finance related programmes and grant them exemption from writing some professional examinations. For example, Institute of Credit Management UK.

Programme Philosophy and Objectives:

The programme offers a four-year BA Degree in Corporate Secretaryship and Management. Navigating the complex terrain of modern corporate organizations demands the services of the corporate secretary who is responsible for ensuring that accurate and sufficient documentation exists for effective functioning of a corporate entity. The practice of corporate secretaryship extends to strategic and functional contexts, advising Board, leading teams in secretarial best practices, ensuring compliance with law and regulation, and establishing efficient internal communication of Board decisions and external reporting.

The Corporate Secretaryshipand Management Programme will prepare students to become secretaries of Companies listed on the stock exchanges, companies run by councils, boards or other corporate organizations, other multi nationals and non-profit organizations.
Emphasizes shall be laid on the development of practical language skills especially in French and English, taking into account the geopolitical position of Ghana in West African Sub-region. Pertinent advantage will be taken of the development of Information Technology Skills as a tool in the hands of the modern Secretary.

The prograrmme is also aimed at inviting Senior Managers and Company Secretaries from places in order to interact with the University College students and encourage the exchange of ideas between the academic and the business communities in Ghana.

The programme will also prepare students to pursue other related courses which will lead to exempting them from writing some professional examinations related to corporate secretaryship and management. For example, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
At the end of the programme, students will be able to:

  • Understand the scope, role and functions of corporate secretaryship and management and apply them within the employing or client organisation;
  • Understand the law and the best practice in meetings, apply them in the  secretaryship function, and ensure corporate compliance;
  • Ensure effective communication and dissemination of information to and from the Board, both internally and externally, for the optimum benefit of the organisation and its needs;
  • Be aware of the ongoing responsibilities of the Secretary as an independent professional practitioner within the organisation, and be responsible for continuing personnel development within the orgnisation in which he or she may be employed;
  • Be aware of, and be responsible for, continuing self-development in corporate secretaryship as a professional practitioner;
  • Provide bi-lingual secretaryship services.
